Communication
The concept of communication is really about the transferance of information from one party to another.
Traditionally, the process goes through 2 stages.
- The bearer of the message must select a medium for communication e.g. To inform a friend of party, one could decide to communicate that information via a text message.
- Once the medium has been selected, the bearer may then proceed to transfer the message.
The Problem
In today’s world however, the very technology that brings us closer also poses several problems. Let me list them below:
- With various forms of communication channels present, it is now prudent that we be able to identify the ‘active channel’ on which the message recipient is on. This is especially so if the message is time sensitive. If you know that someone is connected to Skype, G-Talk, Facebook, Cell Phone, Office Phone, Home Phone, etc… it’s critical that you know which one he/she’s monitoring right now. Failure to do this results in the delivery of the message being delayed.
- It is actually possible to create solutions that bridge certain pockets of communications. These solutions are costly-requiring both specialised skills and money.
- With many various communication platforms, data is stored in many places. You have your appointments in your calendar. You’ve got people sending you RSVPs to your phone and your email. You’ve got News coming in from all over the place and stored is the same manner of chaos. There’s simply too much decentralised redundancy.
Now… if only there was a solution to this mess…
Value Proposition
Widgeous solves the above problem by building a central data core that allows external interfacing communication channels to retrieve, disseminate and manipulate across platforms. The best thing about it? The user gets to create the little interfacing applications(called widgets) themselves through a user friendly development environment.
User friendly? Yes, you won’t have to look at code. Ok, almost.
